**Title**
Labor & Delivery RN – Labor & Delivery
**Schedule**
- Weekends: Some weekend shifts required.
- Holiday requirement: Must commit to working 3 of the following 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day.
**Requirements**
- License: Compact license must be in hand at submission.
- Certifications:
- BLS
- ACLS
- AWHONN Intermediate
- FHM (Fetal Heart Monitoring)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Years of experience: 2 years required.
- EMR: Epic charting experience required.
- Unit-specific skills:
- High-risk labor & delivery management
- Fetal monitoring and interpretation
- C-section assist/recovery and vaginal deliveries
- Neonatal assessment and couplet care
- Administering infusion therapies (e.g., magnesium sulfate, insulin drips, Pitocin)
**Roles & Responsibilities**
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients during labor and delivery, ensuring safety and health.
- Monitor fetal heart patterns and maternal well-being using advanced fetal monitoring techniques.
- Assist in both vaginal and C-section deliveries, playing an active role in the care of the newborn immediately after birth.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for high-risk labor and delivery management, ensuring optimal outcomes for mother and child.
- Document patient care clearly and accurately in the electronic medical record.
- Educate patients and families about the labor and delivery process and immediate postpartum care.
**Compliance / Notes**
- Background checks: Facility does not accept background hits.
- References: 2 required covering 1 year within the last 3 years.
- Orientation hours: 12 hours.
- RTO policies: 2 pre-approved time off requests.
- Modules: Non-billable, averaging around 16 hours pre-start.
- Travelers may be required to float between units; refusal may affect assignment.
