Are you a dependable, patient, and compassionate Home Health Aide (HHA) who enjoys helping seniors live safely and comfortably at home? BrightStar Care is seeking an experienced Caregiver/HHA to assist an elderly client who experiences sundowning, which may include increased confusion, forgetfulness, and occasional irritability, particularly during the afternoon and evening hours.

We are looking for someone who can provide personalized care, maintain a calm and reassuring environment, and help the client feel safe, respected, and comfortable throughout each shift.

Experience with dementia-related behaviors, evening confusion, or similar caregiving challenges is highly preferred. The ideal candidate will be patient, attentive, and skilled in gentle redirection, reassurance, and maintaining a consistent daily routine.

Available Shifts

• Monday: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM

• Wednesday: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM

• Friday: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM

• Saturday: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM

• Sunday: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM

Candidates must be dependable and able to commit to their scheduled shifts. Additional assignments may be available for caregivers with high availability and flexible schedules throughout Westside, Eastside, and Southwest Cuyahoga County.

What You'll Do

• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and personal hygiene.

• Provide companionship, emotional support, and reassurance.

• Recognize and respond calmly to sundowning symptoms, including confusion, forgetfulness, and occasional irritability.

• Use gentle redirection, reassurance, and familiar routines to promote comfort and reduce distress.

• Assist with mobility, transfers, and ambulation as needed.

• Prepare meals and provide medication reminders according to the care plan.

• Perform light housekeeping, laundry, and other essential household tasks.

• Monitor and report changes in the client's behavior, mood, or overall condition to the appropriate care team.

• Follow individualized care plans, agency policies, and client confidentiality requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.

• At least one year of caregiving, home care, assisted living, or direct care experience preferred.

• Previous experience caring for clients with dementia, sundowning, or similar behavioral changes is highly preferred.

• HHA, STNA, CNA, or Nursing Assistant training preferred.

• Current CPR certification.

• Negative TB test or chest X-ray.

• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of auto insurance.

• Ability to assist with client mobility and lift up to 50 pounds, as required.

• Strong communication, patience, and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently and follow individualized care plans.

• Commitment to client privacy, confidentiality, and HIPAA compliance.
