About the role
**Title:** Labor and Delivery Nurse – High-Risk Obstetrics
**Schedule:**
- Shift: 12-hour days, 06:45–19:15
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend — minimum 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
**Assignment Details:**
- Contract Length: 13–26 weeks
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week (option available)
**Requirements:**
- Minimum: 2 years L&D experience (unit prefers 3 years)
- Traveler experience: First-time travelers accepted if prior large/high-volume experience
- Required certifications: BLS/BCLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate (will accept C-EFM in lieu of AWHONN)
- Required skills: Labor & delivery and intrapartum care in high-volume setting, sterile vaginal exam, immediate newborn care, C-section circulation (preferred), triage of obstetrical patients, IV start/maintenance
- EMR: EPIC experience required
**Roles & Responsibilities:**
- Provide comprehensive care for obstetrical patients in a high-risk setting.
- Perform assessment and monitoring of labor, recognizing complications and implementing appropriate interventions.
- Assist with and manage deliveries, including providing immediate newborn care and C-section circulation.
- Triage obstetrical patients and manage IV therapy as needed.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- May be required to precept/orient new staff as necessary.
**Compliance / Notes:**
- RTO policy: RTO after booking is NOT allowed and cannot be worked out on-site. Up to 7 days RTO auto-approved (no holidays); no RTO during first week; must work 2 of 3 major holidays; all RTO must be pre-approved.
- Vaccines: COVID-19 vaccine NOT required; Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only).
- Licensing: NC or Compact license pending is acceptable for submittal.
- Testing: Candidate must go to lab within 48 hours after signing; all testing must be completed within 48 hours.
- Former employees must wait 12 months before applying (disclosure required at submission).
