Registered Nurse (RN) – Campus Health
Des Plaines, IL

Overview:
Our college health services team is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a coverage assignment beginning October 26, 2026. You’ll provide direct nursing care, preventive services, and health education to a diverse college population, helping students and staff stay healthy and thrive.

Position Offers:

• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–4:30 PM
  • Start date: October 26, 2026
• Competitive pay: $41–45 per hour (DOE)
• Temporary coverage assignment of at least 12 weeks

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform comprehensive assessments for students and staff with acute, chronic, or preventive health needs, and develop individualized care plans based on clinical findings and best practice guidelines
• Triage walk-in and scheduled visits, prioritizing care needs and directing patients to appropriate resources or levels of care
• Administer medications and perform diagnostic testing following standing orders and established protocols, providing follow-up care, treatment, and referrals as appropriate
• Educate patients on health conditions, medications, self-care, and preventive strategies tailored to the college population, including health requirements and medical clearance review
• Implement infection control practices, including screening, isolation procedures, and proper disposal of bloodborne pathogen waste
• Maintain timely, accurate, and confidential clinical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR), in compliance with federal and state laws
• Collaborate with physicians, counselors, and campus administrators to coordinate care and support campus-wide health and wellness initiatives
• Manage inventory of medications, supplies, equipment, and forms, and cross-train to support both campus health offices

Qualifications:

• Active, current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in Illinois
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, with a background in public health, school nursing, and/or acute care
• Knowledge of nursing standards, infection control, and patient confidentiality
• Ability to work independently, recognize medical concerns, and seek assistance when needed
• Prior college, school health, or ambulatory care experience preferred
• Familiarity with student mental health concerns and referral practices, and experience with health promotion or wellness programs, preferred
