Licensed Practical Nurse - Weekend Nights


Skylight Recovery Center is seeking compassionate, dependable, and motivated Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to join our nursing team at our Residential Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Treatment Center in Dayton, Ohio.


We are currently hiring for full-time Day Shift and Night Shift positions. Nurses play a vital role in providing safe, evidence-based care to patients recovering from substance use disorders. Responsibilities include medication administration, patient assessments, withdrawal monitoring, clinical documentation, patient education, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary treatment team.

Key Responsibilities


Patient Care & Assessment

  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments upon admission and throughout treatment.
  • Monitor patients for changes in physical condition, withdrawal symptoms, mental status, and overall health.
  • Complete routine nursing assessments and vital signs as ordered.
  • Identify changes in patient condition and promptly notify the provider.
  • Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care in a therapeutic environment.

Medication Administration & Management

  • Prepare, administer, and document medications according to provider orders and the Five Rights of Medication Administration.
  • Monitor medication effectiveness, adverse reactions, and side effects.
  • Administer PRN medications as clinically indicated.
  • Maintain accurate Medication Administration Record (MAR) documentation.
  • Complete controlled substance counts at shift change and report discrepancies immediately.

Withdrawal Monitoring & Patient Safety

  • Monitor patients for withdrawal symptoms using facility-approved assessment tools as appropriate.
  • Complete routine patient safety rounds.
  • Monitor patients on physician-ordered safety precautions.
  • Respond appropriately to medical emergencies and activate emergency procedures when necessary.
  • Maintain infection prevention standards and ensure a safe therapeutic environment.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Complete accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Document nursing assessments, medication administration, patient observations, interventions, and shift summaries.
  • Complete incident reports as required.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA, Ohio Board of Nursing regulations, CARF standards, and facility policies.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration

  • Communicate effectively with physicians, nurse practitioners, therapists, behavioral health technicians, case managers, and nursing leadership.
  • Provide detailed shift handoff reports.
  • Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Educate patients regarding medications, recovery, relapse prevention, and healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning.

Schedule

  • Full-Time
  • Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
  • Rotating weekends and holidays as required.

Education

  • Associate degree preferred.

Requirements

Qualifications

Required

  • Active, unrestricted Ohio Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Strong assessment, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Compassionate, professional, and patient-centered approach to care.

Preferred

  • Experience in substance use disorder treatment, detoxification, residential treatment, or behavioral healthcare.
  • Experience administering medications in a residential or inpatient setting.
  • Knowledge of withdrawal monitoring and recovery-oriented care.
  • Experience using electronic medical records (EMR).
