Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C) – School-Based Clinic – Stuart, VA

Home by 4:00 PM. No on call. Loan repayment. We are currently seeking an FNP or PA for a school-based position in Stuart. Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with no nights and no weekends. 20 days of PTO in year one, 9 paid holidays, a $2,500 CE allowance, and a patient schedule capped at 19 encounters per 8-hour day. Stuart sits in the Blue Ridge foothills as the seat of Patrick County, VA, offering an affordable cost of living and a small-town pace that is increasingly hard to find. The Blue Ridge Parkway, Fairy Stone State Park, and miles of hiking, fly fishing, and mountain scenery are minutes from town, while Martinsville, Mount Airy, and the Roanoke and Winston-Salem metros are all within comfortable reach.

The Position:

We are seeking a full-time Family Nurse Practitioner (autonomous strongly preferred) or Physician Assistant for a brand-new, year-round school-based clinic serving elementary, middle, and high school students along with school system staff. The role is hands-on primary and acute care — including minor procedures such as suturing — practiced independently with oversight from the Medical Director.

Compensation & Benefits:

Requirements:

  • Licensed Family Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in Viriginia
  • DEA license
  • Medicare PIN and UPIN numbers and a Medicaid number
  • BLS/CPR and ACLS certification, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
  • Able to provide acute care across a wide range of presentations
  • Competent in minor procedures, including suturing
  • Comfortable working independently with Medical Director oversight
  • Offer contingent on criminal records check and required testing and immunizations (TB, Hepatitis B consent or waiver, Tdap, MMR, Varicella, and influenza per CDC and Virginia Department of Health guidance)

Preferred:

  • Autonomous NP license, or autonomous eligibility within the next year — strongly preferred
  • Pediatric, adolescent, or school-based health experience
  • Experience with eClinicalWorks
  • Bilingual English/Spanish

Responsibilities:

  • Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
  • No on-call, no nights, no weekends
  • Year-round position — not limited to the school calendar
  • Patient schedule capped at a maximum of 19 encounters per 8-hour day
  • Provide direct medical care to elementary, middle, and high school students and school system staff
  • Deliver acute care for a variety of presenting needs in a primary care setting
  • Perform related procedures, including minor suturing
  • Practice independently with oversight provided by the Medical Director
  • Document care in eClinicalWorks
