Specialized Tracheostomy Unit | CNA required | Jenks, OK

Are you an experienced Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with a background in LTAC, Step-down ICU, tracheostomy care, or other high-acuity settings? We're seeking a compassionate and skilled CNA to join our specialized respiratory and tracheostomy unit.

This is a unique opportunity to care for residents with complex respiratory and medical needs in a fast-paced clinical environment. You'll work alongside an experienced interdisciplinary team, utilizing your clinical skills to provide exceptional hands-on care while making a meaningful impact on residents' quality of life. Responsibilities and Purpose

Patient Care & Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, bed baths, CHG baths, grooming, oral care, dressing, toileting, feeding, and incontinence care.
  • Deliver meals, provide hydration, and follow aspiration precautions while assisting with feeding.
  • Turn and reposition patients according to established schedules to promote comfort and prevent pressure injuries.
  • Assist patients with mobility and transfers, and support physical, occupational, and respiratory therapists during treatment sessions.
  • Provide comfort measures, including ice packs, therapeutic baths, and other non-sterile patient care interventions.

Patient Monitoring & Documentation

  • Monitor and accurately record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, respirations, oxygen saturation, and temperature.
  • Measure and document intake and output, including tube feedings and drains.
  • Obtain and record daily weights.
  • Recognize and promptly report abnormal findings or changes in patient condition.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in patient charts.

Respiratory Support

  • Assist with tracheostomy care within the CNA scope of practice, including cleaning around the tracheostomy site and securing trach ties.
  • Monitor oxygen delivery devices, including trach collars, nasal cannulas, and oxygen tubing.
  • Observe and immediately report signs of respiratory distress, including increased work of breathing, changes in oxygen saturation, or abnormal secretions.

Skin & Wound Care

  • Perform routine skin assessments during patient care.
  • Follow turning and repositioning schedules to prevent pressure injuries.
  • Assist with wound care preparation and non-sterile dressing changes as directed.

Team Collaboration

  • Communicate changes in patient condition promptly to the nursing team.
  • Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive environment for patients and staff.

Required Experience and Education

  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC) or Stepdown ICU experience required.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
  • Strong communication, observation, and patient care skills.
