About the Role

Essential HealthCare Solutions, LLC is building a roster of Florida-certified Nursing Assistants to provide hands-on basic care and medical-station support at employee shelters during hurricane and severe-weather events in Southwest Florida. Working under RN direction, our CNAs help keep shelter occupants comfortable, monitored, and safe.

This is on-call, activation-based work ideal for CNAs who want meaningful disaster-response experience and flexible deployments.

Deployment Locations & Environment

Deployable to any of the three LCEC-designated shelter sites in North Fort Myers (Lee County), and to other facilities identified in writing by the Cooperative during an activation:

  • 4980 Bayline Drive, North Fort Myers, FL 33917
  • 141 East Mariana Avenue, North Fort Myers, FL 33917
  • LCEC Basecamp, Williams Road, North Fort Myers, FL 33917

Shelter occupants may include Cooperative employees, line crews, vegetation-management contractors, mutual-aid personnel, emergency-operations staff, and authorized support personnel — populations of 50 to 500+ operating continuously for 24 hours to 14 days.

    What You'll Do

  • Provide basic care under RN direction — vital signs, activities-of-daily-living (ADL) support, and patient comfort
  • Assist the nursing team with screening, monitoring, and patient movement
  • Support setup, stocking, and organization of the shelter medical station
  • Track and help maintain medical-supply and PPE inventory; flag replenishment needs
  • Observe and report changes in occupant condition to the RN promptly
  • Assist with infection-prevention practices — hand hygiene, PPE, cleaning and disinfection
  • Help maintain shift logs and supply-usage documentation
  • Support the clinical team with general non-clinical tasks as directed during activations

    What You'll Bring

  • Active Florida CNA certification — required
  • Current BLS/CPR certification — required
  • Ability to pass a background screening
  • Availability to deploy on short notice and work extended 12-hour shifts in shelter/field conditions
  • Preferred: home-health, long-term-care, disaster-response, or medical-assisting experience; FEMA NIMS (IS-100/200/700/800); bilingual a plus

    Schedule & Conditions

This is activation-based work. Deployments are triggered by storm events — from up to 72 hours before anticipated landfall, through impact, and into recovery — for periods of 24 hours to 14 consecutive days. You will work 12-hour shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays, in shelter and temporary-facility settings. Meals and lodging are provided during qualifying deployments, and PPE is supplied.

Upon activation, you acknowledge the assignment within one (1) hour and confirm availability, roster placement, estimated deployment time, and emergency-contact information.

  • A role on a live, awarded emergency-response contract with a respected electric cooperative
